Delbert E. Nickerson
Delbert E. Nickerson, 92, of Arkwright, NY passed away on Wednesday Sept. 3, 2025 at Brooks Memorial Hospital surrounded by family. He was born on Oct. 6, 1932 to the late Clayton and Jessie Nickerson in Poland, NY.
Delbert married the love of his life Sylvia Lewis Nickerson on
April 12, 1952. He went onto serving his country in the US
Army from January 1954 to January 1956 during the Korean War. Upon his discharge from the
Army, Delbert began driving truck, hauling milk for Roy Holcomb, Joe Polisoto and for Nickerson Cattle where he also worked on the dairy farm. He also was a truck delivery driver for Fredrickson’s Builder Supply, Lake Shore Delivery, Peck’s, Gren,
Genesee, and Suitkote. After many years of truck driving he re tired from Suitkote in 1996.
He was a member of the Cassadaga American Legion 1280 for several years.
Delbert is survived by his wife Sylvia LewisNickerson, his children Craig (Judy) Nickerson of Cassadaga, Gwen Gordon of Salamanca, his grandchildren Chet (Ryan) Nickerson, Brando (Anna) Logan, Heather (Jon) Byrne, Amber White, Denver, Dallas, and Savanah (Chris Dutton) Nickerson; 15 great grandchildren, and one great- great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by a son Dean Nickerson and a son in law Stephen Gordon. A visitation will be held at the Jordan Funeral Home on Sunday Sept.7 from 5 -8 PM and on Monday Sept. 8 from 12 -2 PM with a funeral service to take place at 1:30 PM. Burial will take place at Burnham Hollow Cemetery.
