Jean M. Press 82, of Forestville, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2025 at her residence following a long illness, surrounded by her family. She was born in Gowanda on June 1, 1943, the daughter of the late William and Helen (Luce) Deet. Jean at one time worked for the former M. Wile in Dunkirk and the former Crolle Agway in Forestville. She was the heart and soul of her home & family. Jean devoted her life to her children & grandchildren. She was known for her hardy laugh, kind heart & generosity. Jean loved going to the casino, taking kids to the “donut pond” and always found the bright side in situations. Her favorite saying was “It was meant to be”. Jean will be dearly missed. Survivors include a daughter Brenda (Todd) Tyler, of Cherry Creek, two sons, Brian (Renee) Press, and Michael (Melissa) Press, both of Forestville, and a brother William (Donna) Deet, Jr., of Westfield. Also surviving are seven grandchildren Lacy (Ben) Gross, Kacy (Stan Pobee) Press, Mackenzie Press, Makayla Press, Joshua Press, Meagan Tyler, Brandon Tyler, three great grandchildren Luca Gross, Tahlia Gross, Zeke “Stanley” Pobee and several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband/wife Frank Press, Jr., whom she married on June 29, 1961 in St. Rosae of Lima Church, Forestville and who died on June 6, 2017, and a brother Robert Deet. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorials may be made either to Forestville Fire Department, Inc., PO Box 299, Forestville, NY 14062, or to the South Dayton Fire Dept.
