Nathaniel L.C. LaForme, 28, of Gowanda passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025 in Dewitt, NY. He was born on Jan. 3, 1997 in Gallup, NM, son of the former Denise Huff of Gowanda and Burl LaForme of Ontario, Canada, who survive. Nathaniel was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation, Wolf Clan.
He was currently an enrolled student at Syracuse University, and had attended Hilbert College beforehand. Nathaniel was employed by FedEx in Syracuse and had previously refereed area lacrosse for many years. He did enjoy playing lacrosse as well, but even more so preferred refereeing the sport. He also enjoyed music and singing, and is fondly remembered for his singing voice.
Besides his parents, Nathaniel is also survived by two brothers; Josiah and Joseph LaForme, both of Gowanda, as well as several loving cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Nathaniel is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, LeLand and Elizabeth Huff.
Friends may call on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025 from 3-6 pm from Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 105 East Main St. in Gowanda.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 22, 2025 at 11 AM from the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Seneca Nation Cemetery.
