Alberta Lockett

Alberta Lockett, 86 – Died Wednesday evening in her Dunkirk home after a long illness.

Born Dec. 29, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Mattie Simmons and James Master. In her later years, she dedicated her life to the welfare of children. For more than eight years, she worked as a Teacher-Aide in the infant and toddler rooms at the Agri-Business Child Development Center, a Head Start program, at the St. Joseph Church School in Fredonia, NY. Alberta equally dedicated her life to her Creator and to her Church, the Friendship Baptist Church in Dunkirk, NY, where she was a very active member. Those that knew her, praise her for having been a kind, wonderful and loving soul.

She will be missed by her children: Brenda Maxwell of Rochester, NY, Joequetta Maxwell of Elmira, NY, Katrina Tirado and Tony Maxwell, both of Dunkirk, NY, and Sherry (Wayne Fimey Sr.) Watts, of Rochester, NY; her sisters Thelma and Theresa; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be Saturday, Oct. 11th, 2025, at 11 AM, at the Friendship Baptist Church in Dunkirk, NY; the Reverend Earl Wallace officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the FANTAUZZI FUNERAL HOME, 82 East Main St., Fredonia, NY, Friday, Oct. 10 from 3-6 PM. Alberta will be interred at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dunkirk, NY.
