Greatly loved and deeply missed, Sandra “Sandi” J. (Szocki) Greenman of Dunkirk, NY, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025, at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Amherst after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Sandi was born April 18, 1960, in Dunkirk, the daughter of Daniel and Agnes (Kaleta) Szocki. Raised in Dunkirk, Sandi earned her Licensed Practical Nurse degree, and associate’s degree from Jamestown Community College. She was a graduate of SUNY Fredonia with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. After college, she enjoyed a 40-year career working in the nursing field at the various locations, including Brooks Memorial Hospital, Child Protective Services, The Resource Center, where she worked as a caring Mental Health Nurse and from where she retired.

Sandi was a member of the Kosciuszko Club, The Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club, the Southern Tier Bills Booster Club Sandi and Bart’s Cove where she bartended for 25 years. Sandi was a longtime season ticket holder to both the Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. Above all, Sandi was a loving and dedicated caretaker of her 99-year-old mother, Agnes.

Sandi is survived by her son, Robert Greenman, of Buffalo; her mother Agnes “Peggy” Polowy, of Dunkirk and longtime partner and fiance, Richard Rybij, of Fredonia; her sister, Janice Brooks (Dave) Van Bortel of Rochester, and an additional sibling. She was loved by nieces Jordan Brooks of Syracuse, and Skylar (Daniel) Clark and nephew John Van Bortel of Rochester. She is predeceased by her father, Daniel Szocki, and stepfather, Jerome Polowy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Hyacinth Church, 295 Lake Shore Dr. E., Dunkirk, NY, today, (Wednesday Oct. 8, 2025) at 1 pm. Interment will be at St. Hyacinth Cemetery.
