Joan M. (Berkshire) Meyers

Joan M. (Berkshire) Meyers, 85, of Fredonia, NY, passed unexpectedly away on Wednesday Oct. 29, 2025 at Buffalo General Hospital. Joan was born April 3,1940 in Dunkirk, daughter of William D. and Martha (Beilen) Berkshire. On April 7,1959, she married her husband, James S. Meyers, who died Jan. 21, 2022. She was the Village of Fredonia Tax Receiver for many years and from where she retired. Joan loved her dog, Eli, camping and traveling by motorhome. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Church and the Fredonia Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary. Joan never met a person she didn’t like. She was outgoing, friendly and would always talk to people wherever she went. Above all, she loved her family and many friends.

Joan is survived by her daughters: Kim (Michael) Tofil of Chattanooga, TN, Debbie (Keith) Panek of Dunkirk and Jodi Meyers (Tim Campbell) of Westfield; grandchildren, Jessica Berdyck (Mike Ostler) of Fredonia, Philip (Candice) Berdyck of South Carolina, Nick (Emily) Berdyck, of Fredonia, Amanda and Sara Campbell of Westfield and Brett Panek, of Fredonia; great-grandchildren, Noah Berdyck, Jaxon Ostler, Ella Berdyck, Leila and Dexter Parkman. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, William D. and Martha Berkshire, her husband, James S. Meyers, Joan is predeceased by her two brothers, William and Edward Berkshire.

Visitation will be held at the LARSON-TIMKO Funeral Home, 20 Central Ave. Fredonia, NY on Sunday 4-7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at St. Anthony’s Church, Fredonia, NY at 1 pm. Online condolences may be made at larsontimkofuneralhome.com. Arrangements David J. Dengler.
