Matthew John Dorogi, 58, of Marlborough, Massachusetts, passed away suddenly on Aug. 21st, 2025. Matt was born on May 25, 1967 in Westfield, NY to Ruth Dorogi and the late Dennis Dorogi. Matt spent his first 18 years in Brocton, NY. He loved fishing, tennis, skiing, and playing the trumpet. He also flew small recreational aircraft out of Dunkirk airport. Matt took naturally to science and mathematics in high school, then earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Physics from SUNY Fredonia, and a PhD in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics from Purdue University.
He went on to have a successful career at several high-tech companies including Applied Materials and Corning and served as Director and VP at several others. Most recently, he had operated his own business and was deeply involved in all aspects of large scale solar, storage, and energy related projects. Throughout his busy career Matt and his wife raised two wonderful daughters and always returned to Brocton for family gatherings.
Matt is survived by his wife, Irena; daughters Natalia and Kaya; mother, Ruth; and siblings, Mark (Kathleen), Andrew (the late Florence), Mike (DeAnn), and Sara. Matt was genuine, generous, and kind. We love and miss him dearly.
A funeral ceremony was held at St. Mary’s Romanian Orthodox Church, and Matt was laid to rest in Cypress Hills Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY on Aug.t 28.
A Celebration of Life will be planned at a future date.
