Roger K. Heyden, 79, of Dunkirk, peacefully passed away Monday evening Nov. 17, 2025 surrounded by his family.
He was born Nov. 11, 1946, in Dunkirk the son of the late Karl and Genevieve (Johnson) Heyden. A lifelong resident of Dunkirk, Roger was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, Erie Community College and Fredonia State University. He was employed at Al Tech Specialty Steel, GHI and the City of Dunkirk.
He was a member of the Moniuszko, Conservation, and First and Fourth Ward Falcon Clubs. He liked going out to the clubs with his brother and friends to watch football and other sporting events.
He enjoyed spending his evenings at home with his son and his best friend Gus (his cat) and having his nightly bowl of chocolate ice cream. In the summer months he enjoyed gardening and a Saturday afternoon at Barts Cove with many of his lifelong friends. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife Pauline, family members and their friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Pauline (Edwards) Heyden.
He is survived by his son, Scott; his sister, Diane; and his brother, Paul.
Relatives and friends are welcome to attend Calling Hours on Friday, Nov. 21, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. at McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home; 736 Central Ave., Dunkirk, NY. Funeral services and interment will be held in private.
