William A. Berkshire II

William A. Berkshire II, 51, of Fredonia, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025. Born in Dunkirk on Feb. 10, 1974, he was the son of the late William Berkshire I and Jean (Pierce) Scott.

A lifelong resident of the area, he graduated from Fredonia High School in 1993. Bill was known for his sense of humor, and he could talk to anyone, making friends effortlessly throughout his life.

Bill’s career was marked by dedication and hard work. He began his professional journey as a mechanic, spending many years at Joy’s Auto Service and James Thompson Auto Service. For the last 20 years, he was a valued member of Refresco, starting as a forklift driver and ascending to the role of Blow Mold Quality Engineer, exemplifying his commitment to personal and professional growth.

In his leisure time, Bill pursued hobbies that reflected his love for sports and community. He was an avid bowler, exemplified by his role as a coach for the youth bowling league. His passion for bowling even led to a television appearance on Beat the Champ in the 1990s.

Baseball also held a special place in his heart. He not only coached little league to spend quality time with his son, Bradley, but he also founded the travel team “The Chautauqua Hit Crew,” where he served as the team manager. Moreover, he enjoyed fishing with his sons, creating cherished memories that his family will hold dear.

Bill took immense pride in his accomplishments, especially the restoration of his family’s homestead. Most importantly, he was exceptionally proud of his sons, demonstrating his deep love and commitment to family.

Memberships include the Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club and the Fourth Ward Falcon Club.

Bill is survived by his loving partner of 25 years, Stacey Wallace and their loving sons, Kyle and Bradley Berkshire; his sister, Laurie (Joe Campbell) Berkshire; step-father, Robert Scott; father-in-law, Michael Wallace and brother-in-law, Brian Wallace. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Chloe, Shay, Brayden, and Kane and his close friends, Dan, Eric, Jon and Tino.

In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his aunts and uncles, his mother-in-law, Nancy Wallace and his best friend, Ralph Gaszynski.

Relatives and friends are welcome to attend Calling Hours on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. at McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home; 736 Central Ave., Dunkirk, NY. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, Nov. 17, 2025 at 11 a.m. at McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Interment will be held in private.
