Margaret A. Richter
Margaret A. “Babe” Richter, 86, of Buffalo Street, Silver Creek, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025 at Dunkirk Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Dunkirk. She was born in Fredonia on Oct. 13, 1939, the daughter of the late Harold Richter, Sr. and Clara (Kugler) Richter Easterly.
She was a graduate of the former Cardinal Mindszenty High School, Dunkirk, Class of 1957 and worked as an Accounting Clerk for S. Howes Co., Silver Creek, for 41 years. She previously worked for the former Aldrich Dairy in Fredonia for seven years.
Margaret was a former member of St. Rose RC Church, Forestville, St. Joseph’s RC Church, Fredonia and the former St. John Bosco RC Church in Sheridan. She became a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church in Silver Creek upon the closing of St. John Bosco. Margaret was an avid reader and a strong supporter of the Anderson-Lee Library in Silver Creek.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Norley Richter of Forestville, two nephews, four nieces and numerous great nieces & nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Harold Richter, Jr., one nephew and two nieces. Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main St., Forestville on Friday from 5-7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning from Faith Community Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church, 165 Central Ave., Silver Creek at 11 am with Rev. Daniel Fiebelkorn, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dunkirk.
The family suggests memorials may be made either to the Silver Creek Fire Dept., 162 Central Ave., Silver Creek, NY 14136, or to the Lakeshore Humane Society, 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk, NY 14048.
