Michael S. DeLand
Michael Scott DeLand, 66, of Brocton, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 16, 2025.
Born in Dunkirk, NY on Oct. 24, 1959, Mike was the son of the late LaVerne and Jane (Genthner) DeLand. He graduated from Brocton Central School in 1977 and later studied architecture at Erie Community College. Mike went on to work as a supervisor for several companies in the area, where he earned the respect of coworkers for his blue-collar work ethic and steady leadership.
Above all else, Mike’s world revolved around his family. He was a proud father and a constant presence in the lives of those he loved. He enjoyed being outdoors (barefoot, of course) and treasured family movie nights, Bigfoot expos and casino trips with Hunter. A devoted sports fan, Mike proudly supported the New York Knicks and his beloved Buffalo Bills. He also enjoyed the top off in his red Jeep Wrangler, family vacations, and capturing special moments through his camera.
Mike was known for his generosity and kindness and truly embodied the phrase “he would give you the shirt off his back,” always willing to help anyone in need without expecting anything in return. Wherever he went, Mike was the life of the party-quick with a smile, a laugh, and had a way of making everyone feel welcome.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Angie; his children, Abbigale Lee (Collin) Mulcahy, Hunter Michael DeLand, and Elleigh Grace DeLand; his brother, Craig (Kelly) DeLand; his sisters, Lynn DeLand and Michelle DeLand; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He will be remembered always-forever giving the peace sign and the “I love you” sign. A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements entrusted to Morse Funeral Home Brocton,NY.
