Alfred W. Edwards
Alfred W. Edwards, 87, of Rt. 39, Forestville, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026 at Brooks Memorial Hospital, Dunkirk. He was born in Dunkirk on May 12, 1938, the son of the late Charles and Vivian (Beamish) Edwards. Alfred was a graduate of Silver Creek Central School, Class of 1955. He worked as a Mechanic for the former Cliffstar Corporation in Dunkirk for 13 years before it’s closing. Alfred had previously worked for Ehmke Well Drillers and the former Leworthy Motors in Silver Creek. He was a member of the Dunkirk Senior Center, enjoyed trains and his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Barbara (Glowicki) Edwards of Forestville, whom he married on Aug. 10, 1968 in Buffalo; a daughter, Jennifer (Keith) Dow of Hamburg; three sisters: Shirley Bohrer of Dunkirk, Mary Edwards of Dunkirk & Carol (Cash) Kowal of Angola; two brothers: David (Donna) Edwards of Silver Creek and Cliff Edwards of Silver Creek; and a sister-in-law, Carol Glowicki of Lancaster. Also surviving are two grandchildren; Madeline Kroll & Lydia Grace Dow; a step-grandson, Matthew Dow; and several nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter; Brenda Anne (Edwards) Campbell who died in 1996, a sister Thelma Miller, two brothers Paul & Richard Edwards, sister-in-law Christine Edwards and two brother-in-laws; Daniel Glowicki & Bob Miller.
Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main St., Forestville on Sunday from 4 – 8 PM from where A Catholic Burial Service will be held Monday morning at 11 am with Rev. Joseph Walter, pastor of Holy Trinity Church, Dunkirk, officiating. Private interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Silver Creek.
