Lisa Margaret Baker, 56, entered into rest Jan. 19,2026 with family by her side.
She was born Dec. 1, 1969 in Hanover, NY to the late David Smith and Nancy (Emerling) Smith.
Margaret had a passion for helping people and had created many different businesses over the years that accomplished this. In 2001, Margaret started her own business called The Creative Art Workshop and taught fun art classes to people with disabilities. 2004 she taught vegetarian cooking classes in her Silver Creek home. 2007 she graduated from JFK University with her certification in Life Coaching. She wrote an unpublished manual on How to Discover Your Life Purpose and taught seminars to CASAC Chautauqua Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Council and ECCPASA Erie County Council for Prevention of Alcohol and Substance Abuse. Her dream was to create courses for colleges. In 2007-2009 Margaret also led meditation and heal your life classes to adults and free visualization-meditation classes for teens at Alternate Roots Center for Transformation located at 162 Main Street. With fond memories Margaret remembers the Friday night teens class where the kids would come back every Friday. She thought that was a big deal if the teens were showing up on a Friday night. In 2009 she graduated with her bachelor’s in Holistic Wellness an individualized studies program from Buffalo University. 2013 graduated with her Masters from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in CA. In 2004 and 2005 she volunteered at Hopevale: Home For Troubled Teen Girls In Hamburg in Hamburg, NY and at Loaves and Fishes in Buffalo. 2012 and in 2017 she volunteered for Loaves and Fishes in Ithaca, NY. Margaret also worked at health-food and herbal stores: Feel Rite in Hamburg and Greenstar in Ithaca, and Nature’s Remedy in Ellicottville. Between 2017-2021 Margaret had a private business caring for the elderly. In 2019, Margaret enjoyed teaching classes on How to Listen to Your Inner Wisdom Guidance at the Tompkins County Library. Margaret was a vegan raw food chef and enjoyed her few side businesses where she made popular healthy meals to go, and raw gourmet desserts at the Kava Bar in Ithaca, NY. 2018 she made gluten free specialized desserts for the Korner Stone cafes both in Buffalo and East Aurora. Margaret taught Meditation and Healing Classes at Reflection Mind, Body & Soul East Aurora. In 2022, Margaret got her certification in the Emotion Code/ Body Code and started her Holistic Healing Life Coaching business in Chautauqua, NY. She had an office in Jamestown and Dunkirk, NY. During this time she also taught free classes at the Lakewood Library on the Emotion Code and Soul Writing.
Loving mother of Autumn (Cheyne) Baker-Padelford and Grace (Devin) Hollman. Proud Grandmother of Michael, Henry and Graham. Margaret had always told her children that being a mother and grandmother was her greatest joy. She is also survived by her loving mother Nancy (Walt) Klyczek; her siblings Daniel Smith, Laurie (John) Bifaro and Linda Smith also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her father, she was pre deceased by her brother, Dennis Smith.
A funeral mass will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026 10 AM at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Roman Catholic Church 165 Central Ave Silver Creek, NY 14136.
