Leonard J. Szalkowski

Leonard graduated from Dunkirk Industrial High School and then joined the US Marines. Leonard married the love of his life, Sally Apthorpe on Nov. 3, 1962. He worked at True Temper until its closing, and he was a great cook and woodworker, with his family benefiting from many of his beautiful pieces.

Leonard is survived by his daughters, Rebecca (Robert) Eckstrom and Lynn (Cliff) Pearce, and his sons, Carl Szalkowski, Lee (Jennifer) Szalkowki. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Alicia (Jake) Green, Nathan (Kayleigh) Eckstrom, Luke (Sara) Eckstrom, Nicholas (Heather) Eckstrom, Jordan (Evelyn) Eckstrom, Elijah (Maggie) Eckstrom, Kristen (Erik) Nixon, Megan (Ermin) Sabljakovic, Andrea Perry, Brandon Perry, Laura Szalkowski, Cody, Katelyn, Mikayla Falkner; Great-grandchildren Avery, Aria, Arabella Green, Landon, Raegan, Addison, Eckstrom, Tristan, Greyson Eckstrom, Lucian, Lorelai, Lochlann, Lennox Eckstrom, Elliotta and Theodore Eckstrom, Preston, Kaleb, and Logan Eckstrom, Eli Sabljakovic, William, Ella, Isabella Falkner and a great-great granddaughter Maia Nixon.

In addition to his parents, Leonard is preceded in death by his wife, Sally, and his sister, Mary Jane Campese and a granddaughter, Nicole Eckstrom.
