Luis A. “Chuli” Sanchez, Jr., 42, of Dunkirk, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2026. Born in Dunkirk on May 6, 1983, he was the husband of Vanessa Gonzalez and son of Luis A. Sanchez Sr. and Aida Vazquez.

A lifelong resident of Dunkirk, Luis attended Dunkirk High School.

Luis was a devoted father to his three daughters, Lexis, Gloriana, and Yazmin, who were the pride of his life. Many cherished memories surround their time together, particularly a magical trip to Disney that stood out as a significant moment. For Lexis, it was a moment of joy not only having fun at the park but also meeting her sisters for the first time. Gloriana fondly remembers how he constantly encouraged her, reminding her that she was destined for greatness. Yazmin, the baby girl of the family, held dear the moments with her father, knowing he would never tell her no, embodying the unconditional love that he provided.

Luis also shared a profound bond with his wife, whose favorite memory of him was his heartfelt declaration that she was his dream girl and his everything. This expression of love epitomized the affectionate, family-oriented individual he was.

He had a deep love for music, finding joy in the sounds of Jelly Roll, Teddy Swim, and Rick Ross. His artistic side was reflected in his enjoyment of drawing.

Chuli faced challenges with remarkable strength, notably surviving brain surgery, an experience that further highlighted his resilience and determination. He approached life with a vibrant spirit, always striving to make those around him smile, embodying a truly affectionate disposition.

Survivors include his loving wife Vanessa Gonzalez and his loving daughters Lexis, Gloriana and Yazmin Sanchez; his mother Aida Vazquez; brother Victor (Tiffany) Sanchez; grandfather Pedro “Peyin” Vazquez; uncles Jose, Francisco “Budda”, Ricardo “Rick”, Geraldo “Gerry”, and Ozvaldo “Ozzy”; aunt Madeline; nephews Xavier, Isaiah and Josiah; brother-in-law Jon Gonzalez and many cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father Luis A. Sanchez Sr. and his grandmother Gladys Vazquez.

Relatives and friends are welcome to attend Calling Hours on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026 from 3-6 p.m. at McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home; 736 Central Avenue. Prayer services will begin at 5:30 p.m. Interment will be held in private. Arrangements are by R. Michael Mackowiak III; McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
