William P. Augur

Bill was raised in Westfield, and will always be remembered there as the boy with the miniature Model T car. He graduated from Westfield Academy in 1967 and later attended Erie County Community College in Buffalo, NY. He had resided in Erie for over 50 years and was employed at General Electric for 37 years as an Electronics Technician, retiring in 2008.

Bill was known for his intellectual curiosity, especially in the fields of chemistry, astronomy and mathematics and enjoyed taking adult classes at Penn State Behrend in those fields. He was an avid bike rider and computer hobbyist. He was also a member of the Wesleyville Rotary Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert J. Augur, Sr.; and his loving companion of 26 years, Mary Gaiser. He is survived by his niece, Christine Edwards of Westfield, NY; his nephew, Robert J. Augur, Jr. of Portland, OR; his sister-in-law, Darla Augur of Erie; and Mary’s daughter, Ava Warner of Moon Township, PA. He is further survived by a great-niece, a great-nephew, and dear friends, Terry and Nancy Cavanaugh of Erie.

The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Manchester Commons for providing Bill with exceptional care.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. Memorial contributions may be made to WQLN – PBS, 8425 Peach St., Erie, PA 16509.
