Daniel J. Hayes

Dan was born on March 21, 1950, in Rochester, NY. He spent many years working as a cabinet maker at the Schlicker Organ Company, where he put skill and care into everything he built.

A talented woodworker, he built the home where he raised his family. Those who knew him remember the pride he took in working with his hands.

Dan was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather. He was the husband of Valerie Hayes and the father of Maura Hayes, Evan Hayes, and Annie Hayes-Montesano (Andrew Montesano). His grandchildren, Eva June and Rosie Bea, brought him immense joy. He was predeceased by his brother, Tommy Hayes and sister-in-law, Lucy Hayes, and is survived by his brother, Jimmy Hayes (Terry Hayes) and several nieces and nephews.

He cherished time with his family and will be remembered for the life he built and the love he shared. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Chautauqua County Humane Society.

He will be missed.

Funeral Services will be held in private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by R. Michael Mackowiak III; McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home, 736 Central Ave., Dunkirk, NY.
