Joan C. Anson
Ms. Joan Carol Anson, 72, was called home on April 10, 2026. After a courageous battle with cancer over the past several years, she passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, with her devoted son, Jason and her twin sister, Jean by her side.
Joan was born on Dec. 3, 1953, to Richard “Dick” and Maxine Anson in Dunkirk, New York. She was raised there and spent much of her adult life in Dunkirk as well. After transitioning from a career in insurance to working in her family’s business, Lakeside Precision, Joan later moved to
Northern Virginia to be closer to her sister, Jean and Jean’s late husband, Ron Crow. A few years ago, following her retirement, all three relocated to Winchester, Virginia, drawn by their shared love of the mountains and the beauty of the area.
Shortly after her cancer diagnosis, Joan moved to Huntersville, North Carolina, to seek enhanced treatment and care while living with her only son, Jason. During the final eighteen months of her life, they cherished their time together — watching Buffalo Bills games, relaxing by the pool or on the boat, and taking trips to the Carolina coast. They made a point of enjoying great food and good company, creating many treasured memories along the way.
Joan lived life fully and joyfully. She loved to laugh, valued time with family and friends, and approached life with a warm, positive spirit. Everyone who knew her felt her kindness and infectious outlook, and she was deeply loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Daniel “Danny” and James “Swamp” Anson; and numerous aunts, uncles, and grandparents.
