Betty J. Vantino
1925-2025
Betty J. Vantino, 100, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at the Gowanda Nursing Home. She was born on November 10, 1925 in Salamanca, daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Pinto) Sylvester. On July 25, 1964, she married Michael Vantino who predeceased her on August 25, 2011.
Betty was a devoted Catholic as a member of St. Joseph’s RC Church in Gowanda and SS. Peter and Paul RC Church in Hamburg. For 20 years, she served as St. Joseph’s secretary and was active in their altar and rosary society.
Besides her parents and husband, Betty is predeceased by a daughter, Mary Frances Vantino and a brother, Joseph Sylvester.
She is survived by a loving family, nieces, and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday May 13, 2026 at 11am from Holy Cross Cemetery in Gowanda, NY
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph’s RC Church in Gowanda.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 105 East Main St. in Gowanda.
