Faith J. DiLorenzo
Faith J. DiLorenzo, a life long resident of Dunkirk New York, died May 22nd. She passed peacefully following a brief illness at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo.
She was born on August 6th, 1941, the daughter of Robert (Red) Kachermeyer and Minerva (Dorler) Kachermeyer.
Faith found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, in her younger years she loved gardening, bowling, roller skating, and going to concerts. She was one of the founding members of The Moonlighters skating club. All throughout her life she enjoyed attending family gatherings, watching the animals and birds that visited our back yard, going on drives at dusk to see where we could spot some deer, telling anyone who was near all about her salt and pepper shaker collection, baking for everyone, doing puzzles, and visiting with her friends, maybe even sharing a bottle of wine with them occasionally. As she slowed down and her mobility became more difficult you would find her reading books, crocheting, and playing along with most game shows from the comfort of her recliner. She was most proud of her granddaughters that she helped raise since she lived with them most of their lives. They are better people for her hand in their lives; they have been taught to cook, sew, bake, a love for reading, the importance of family helping each other, and the importance of tradition.
She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years Henry J. DiLorenzo. She is survived by her daughter, Terri (Andre) Vasquez, and her two grand daughters whom she loved more than anything, Cierra Vasquez and Isabella Vasquez.
Also survived by her brothers John (Jack) Kachermeyer, Robert (Bobby) Kachermeyer, Richard (Dickie) Kachermeyer, and sister Mary Bigelow. She was pre deceased by her parents, her brother, James Kachermeyer and her two sisters, Joyce Burns and Barbara Szwejbka.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date for friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to NCCS (Northern Chautauqua Catholic School) Or Mercy Hospital in Buffalo.
