Michael P. Borysoff
It is with deep sorrow that I share the unexpected passing of my brother Michael P. Borysoff (Mickey), 77, who passed away at his home on January 7, 2026. Mickey formerly of Arkwright NY resided in Waxhaw, NC.
Born in Buffalo NY on May 28, 1949, to the late Michael Borysoff Sr. and Ethel (Schmidt) Borysoff. Mickey was raised in Arkwright and attended Dunkirk Industrial High School until it closed then went to Dunkirk High School. Mickey worked at Roblin Steel, Dunkirk Ice Cream, and Benchley Construction. In Waxhaw, he opened and operated his own business called Mike’s Collision. Eventually, he built his own garage on his property and moved his business there. He continued working right up to his passing. Mickey was an honest, well-respected businessman who built and repaired cars. His clients came from all over the country.
He raced some of the cars he built at Lancaster Speedway here in New York as well as at the Indy Motor Speedway. As an avid race fan, Mickey attended many races at the Charlotte Motor Speedway with his friend Lenny. Mickey was also an animal lover and donated to many shelters. He had all of his pets cremated and kept them in a special place in his home. Mickey leaves behind a son Michael Borysoff of Alden NY, a granddaughter, Summer Borysoff (fiance Ian Klute) of Buffalo NY, a sister, Susan Maggio of Dunkirk NY, a niece, Lisa Lampert (John) of Dunkirk NY, a great-nephew, Tyler Lampert (Lauren Miller) of Dunkirk NY as well as many cousins and special friends. Also survived by his beautiful, loving dog, Prince who has been adopted by Tyler and Lauren. His good friends Lenny and neighbors Brandon and Ruthie of Waxhaw were always there for him.
As Mickey requested, there were no formal funeral services. On March 14, 2026, many friends and relatives gathered in Waxhaw to share stories in a beautiful celebration of life.
