Sharon A. Ahrens, 75, of Dunkirk, passed away on Thursday, April 30. 2026 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. Born in Dunkirk on December 22, 1950, she was the wife of the late Glenn A. Ahrens and daughter of the late Henry and Gertrude (Puppenbroke) Britt.
Sharon was a lifelong resident of Dunkirk, and graduated from Dunkirk High School. She devoted 37 years of her life to the Dunkirk City School District, where she retired as a cleaner after many years of faithful service.
Beyond her professional life, Sharon was an avid shopper and she loved the New York Yankees. One of her cherished pastimes was going out to eat with her niece and sidekick, Carol Konert.
Above all, Sharon was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother who touched the lives of many with her warm heart and unwavering dedication.
Sharon is survived by her loving children Laura (Brian) Rusin, Jennifer (Chris Sullivan) Clark and CJ Clark; grandchildren Derek Clark, Jocelyn Clark, Brodie Rusin and her bonus grandson Damien Sullivan; in-laws Jean (Robert) Horey, Tammie (late Joel) Ahrens, and Carol (Tim) Smith. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her beloved grand dog, Seymour.
In addition to her husband and parents, Sharon is preceded in death by her siblings Rosemary McCarthy, Henry Britt, Jr., Barbara Ann Connelly, and Mary Lou Britt and her in-laws Linda and Marvin Gillson.
Relatives and friends are welcome to attend Calling Hours on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 from 4-7 p.m. at McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home; 736 Central Avenue, Dunkirk, NY. Interment will be held in private. Arrangements are by R. Michael Mackowiak III; McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
