Clifford “Greg” Borst Sr., age 71, of Brocton, NY passed away on June 12, 2026. He was born on March 17, 1955, in Pittsburgh, PA, and carried with him throughout his life the strength, warmth, and steady spirit that came to define him.
Greg lived a life marked by devotion to family, hard work, and the simple joys that brought him happiness each day.
Greg graduated from Brocton Central High School in 1973 and went on to build a life centered on responsibility, service, and care for others. He was known for his work as the head of the village water department in Brocton, where he took pride in doing his job well and serving his community with dedication. Those who knew him appreciated his dependable nature, his strong work ethic, and the quiet pride he took in a job done right.
Family was the heart of Greg’s life. He is survived by his daughter, Amber (Michael) Rylowicz; his stepsons, Nick (Amber) Speziale and Matt (Nadia) Speziale; his grandchildren, Sarah Rylowicz, Giana Speziale, Mila Speziale, and Luca Speziale; his former wife and friend, Lynette Borst; his sister, Cynthia (Bill) Castro and his brother Don Borst. He was preceded in death by his sons, Clifford Greg Borst Jr. and Michael J. Borst, as well as his parents, Clifford L. Borst and Phileda Miller Allison and a stepmother Roselyn Borst. Greg cherished his family deeply, and his love for them was evident in the time, care, and attention he gave throughout his life.
Greg especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, who brought him great joy and pride. He loved fishing, gardening, and crafting, and he found comfort and satisfaction in the peaceful routines of these hobbies. He also treasured the companionship of his dog, Oliver, who was a constant source of happiness and loyalty. Whether he was outdoors, working with his hands, or simply enjoying the company of those he loved, Greg embraced life in a genuine and heartfelt way.
A graveside service will be held Thursday June 18, 2026 4PM at Portland Evergreen Cemetery in Portland, NY
