Dana W. Torres age 56 of Irving passed away at home Saturday June 6, 2026.
Born in the Town of Hanover, NY into the Turtle Clan February 3, 1970 the son of Jose and Pamela (Bennett) Torres.
Dana graduated from Gowanda Central High School, Class of 1988 He attended St Bonnaventure University in Allegany. Dana enlisted with the United States Marine Corps and was a proud U.S. Marine, he honorably served during Operation Desert Storm, Operation Desert Shield and the Somalian Conflict at Guantanamo Bay. Dana worked for the Seneca Nation and held various positions within the nation. Most of his employment was in the Cattaraugaus Territory which include the Marshall’s Office, (he was a prior Chief) , he also worked at the Department of Public Works. Dana did work at the Seneca-Allegany Casino in Salamanca and was also a part-time Police Officer with the Gowanda Police Dept.
Dana was a member of various veteran clubs in the area which include; Iroquois Post 1587, the James Cruden VFW Post 5007 of Gowanda and participated with the veterans honor detail for the American Legion Post 409.
Survivors include his father Jose (Evelyn) Torres of Haines City, Fl, his 4 girls; Megan M. (Shadow) Snyder of Buffalo, Paige O. Torres of Glenwood, NY, Riley S. Torres of Gowanda and Mia P. Torres also of Gowanda. Dana shared his life with Kelly Wasiela for 20 plus years, Kelly’s girls include Elizabeth M. Wasiela of Cattaraugus, Jaime L. Wasiela of Clarence and Samantha M. (Jesse) Nelson of Boston, NY along with grandchildren; Mason, Rome, Sophia, Adiliyn, Carson, Lauren and Skylar. Dana is also survived by siblings nieces and nephews.
Dana was preceded in death by his mother Pamela (Bennett) Torres and a granddaughter Nova.
Friends may call at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME 44 Center St. Gowanda from 4:00- 7-00pm Wednesday June 10, 2026 where funeral services will be held Thursday June 11, 2026 @ 10:00am with full Military Honors.
