Richard “Dick” Copeland Bryant
Richard “Dick” Copeland Bryant, 78, of Fredonia, NY, passed away Friday May 22, 2026 at the Buffalo VA Medical Center. Dick was born November 22, 1947 in Hayward, CA, son of the late William and Eleanor Woodard Bryant. He was a United States Air Force Veteran, serving from 1969-1973 and attained the rank of Sergeant. Hard-working, Dick was a landlord and a handyman. He enjoyed helping neighbors and friends with snowplowing and cutting grass. He was a “sports enthusiast” as he enjoyed golf, billiards and especially bowling. As a member of the Burgen Farm bowling team and bowling in the West Sheridan League in the mid 1980’s Dick rolled 279-249-208 for 796 series, a feat he was immensely proud of. He enjoyed collecting golf clubs, watches from the Fredonia Watch Company, stamps, coins, and repairing bowling bowls.

Dick is survived by his aunt, Joyce Matteson Bryant, of Groton, CT cousins: Robert (Susan) Young, of Dunkirk, Alexis Ginley, of Dunkirk,
Barbara (Jonathan) Arensen, of Kenya, Africa, Karen (Edward) Price, Norwich, CT, Diane Mulzey, of Norwich, CT, Alan Woodard, of Oak Ridge, NC, Lewis (Merdene) Hess, of Reno, NV; also survived by his long-time friend Evonne Hennebery, of Dunkirk and nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery, Fredonia, NY on Friday June 12, 2026 at 11 am. Please assemble inside the main gate of the cemetery at 10:45 am. Military Honors, accorded by the Dunkirk Joint Veterans Council, will follow.
