Robert C. Cooper

Robert C. Cooper, 84, of Dunkirk, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. Born in Dunkirk on June 8, 1941, he was the son of the late Gerald “Jake” and Lenora “Nonie” (Johnson) Cooper.
A lifelong resident of Dunkirk, Robert graduated from Dunkirk High School. He went on to serve honorably in the United States Army from 1963-1965. Following his military service, He initially worked at Kings Windows before dedicating over three decades to Add Lumber, where he built a legacy of reliability and professionalism until his well-earned retirement.
Beyond his professional life, he was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants. His daily routines brought comfort and connection, especially his mornings spent at Jenna’s Cafe, where he was a familiar and cherished figure. Robert delighted in word puzzles, relaxing with television, going for rides, enjoying meals out, and ice cream.
Robert’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Robert’s niece Linda Keppel and her husband Al, for their exceptional care of Robert for the last year and a half.
Robert is survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his siblings Allen, Donna, Jerry, JoAnn, Herman and Nancy. He is also preceded by his beloved cat, Wilson.
Funeral services will be held in private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by R. Michael Mackowiak III; McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home, 736 Central Avenue, Dunkirk, NY.
