Ann Helen Benson Sullivan
Ann Helen Benson Sullivan
Ann Helen Benson Sullivan, 68, of Dunkirk, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply.
Born on April 24 in Westfield, NY, Ann was the daughter of Murray George Benson and Helen Ann Eckerle Benson. She attended Fredonia Central School and lived a life marked by kindness, loyalty, and quiet strength. For 43 years, she devoted herself to Brooks
Memorial Hospital, retiring in 2024 from Brooks’ Central Sterile Processing Department. There, she was more than a dedicated employee–she was a trusted coworker, a friendly face, and someone deeply respected and warmly loved by all who knew her.
Ann will be remembered for the warmth she brought into every room and the way she made
others feel welcome, valued, and loved. Her family was the center of her world, and her devotion showed in the everyday moments she treasured most. She loved exploring Chautauqua County with her husband–trying new restaurants, discovering new places, and listening to music in parks, on the pier, and by the lakes. She found joy in time spent
with her sisters, cuddling her great-grandsons, gathering with family and friends, and swimming during the summer. She also cherished the comfort and companionship of her beloved fur baby, Chewy.
Ann is survived by her husband, Dan; her siblings, Allen (Gillian) Benson, Ida (Dick) Lord, and Mary (Edwin) Benson; and her foster brothers, John (Jeri) Wiedenhofer and Larry (Mary) Wiedenhofer; her nephews Jeramie Klahn, Troy Klahn, JJ Wiedenhofer, Andrew Wiedenhofer, and nieces Tawnie Wiedenhofer and Liz Wiedenhofer; great nieces and nephew Kierstyn Klahn, Jaiden Klahn, Savannah Klahn, and Jeramie Klahn. She is also
survived by her stepchildren, Jennifer Sullivan, Candice Lopez, Shenan Sullivan, Daniel
Sullivan, and Amber Sullivan; her grandchildren, Danielle Sullivan, Stephanie Robles, Julie Conklin, James Conklin, Chianti Lopez, Liriano Lopez, Marcellas Fuentes-Rivera; and her great-grandchildren, Zayden and Zari.
Besides her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her foster brother Bill Wiedenhofer and close cousins, Diane Potter and Cheryl Whitney.
Please join us at LARSON-TIMKO Funeral Home, 20 Central Avenue, Fredonia, Thursday July 9, 2026 from 5-8 pm as we gather to celebrate Ann’s life and share cherished memories at 7 pm. We will surround one another with the love she so generously gave to all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Benson-Cash Family Scholarship or the Lakeshore Humane Society Designated Fund, both at the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation, 212 Lake Shore Drive, Dunkirk, NY 14048.
