Vanessa B. (Burt) Volk, 74, of Fredonia, NY, passed away Saturday July 25, 2026 at the Chautauqua Nursing & Rehabilitation Center with her loving family at her side.
Vanessa was born March 6, 1952 in Penn Yan, NY, the daughter of the late Carlton and Marva (Van Dusen) Burt. She attended Graham Junior College in Boston. MA. Vanessa was a legal secretary at the Foley, Foley & Passafaro law firm in Dunkirk, assisting attorney Jefferey Passafaro for many years.
At one time she was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church and later St. Joseph Church, both in Fredonia.
Vanessa was a Royal watcher as she enjoyed following the news and events of the British Royal family. She was also a first-generation Beatle fan and considered herself a true Beatlemaniac. A woman with a kind heart, Vanessa found great joy in protecting and caring for animals. Above all she loved being with her family and many friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Vanessa is survived by her husband: Roger A. Volk, of Fredonia; her son, Andrew (Jeannie) Volk, of Silver Creek, NY; her daughter, Emily (Aaron) Smith, of Fredonia; four grandchildren: Caleb and Addison Volk and Ella and Ava Smith; also survived by her "Adopted sisters", Barbara Erick and Pam Cranston.
Besides her parents, Carlton and Marva Burt, she is predeceased by an "Adopted sister", Rita Raynor.
Calling hours will be held Sunday at the LARSON-TIMKO Funeral Home, 20 Central Ave., Fredonia, NY, on Sunday, (August 2, 2026), from 4-6 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Church, 1032, Central Ave., Dunkirk, on Monday (August 3, 2026) at 10 am.
