Dan Povhe age 79 of Gowanda passed away unexpectedly at home Saturday evening August 8, 2026.
Born in Gowanda February 25, 1947 the son of Charles and Anna (Kastelic) Povhe.
Charles Daniel Povhe graduated from Gowanda Central High School ; Class of 1965. After graduation he enlisted with the United States Army . Charles honorably served our country from 1966 to 1972.
Dan spent his life in the Gowanda area, he worked for the Village of Gowanda and at the same time was employed for several years with Gowanda Electronics. He was a Life Member of the James Cruden VFW Post 5007 and a 15 consecutive year member of the George Stark American Legion Post 409 both of Gowanda.
Survivors include cousins; Thomas Povhe of Gowanda , Joseph Povhe of Gowanda, Judith Pratt Harris of West Seneca and Earl " Duke" Pratt of West Seneca. Dan is also survived by several extended cousins.
As per Dan's request, a graveside service will be held with full military honors at the Pine Hill Cemetery in Gowanda where he will be laid to rest next to his father Charles on Saturday August 15, 2026 at 1:00pm. ( please assemble at the cemetery , Dan will be buried in Section "G"of the cemetery which is located just inside the upper gate and approximately 20 graves in on the right side. Any problem locating the grave where services will be held , please call Mark Schindler's cell phone 716-244-3857 and he will guide you to the site . The service with full military honors will start sharply at 1pm.
Memorials , if desired may be made to any local charity of one's choice.
