Harry C. West, 97, of Brocton, New York passed away with his family at his side Friday morning August 7, 2026 at UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie, PA after a short illness.
He was born December 2, 1928 in Rock Creek, Oh to his late parents Walter and Thema (Morse) West.
Harry was a 1946 graduate of Brocton Central High School. He enlisted in The United States Army in 1950 and served in the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1952.
Harry married the love of his life, Anita Barbuto August 1, 1953. After his service in the military, he started working for Stewart Dudley farms and eventually started his own farm Highland Fling Farms working both for over 40 years. He was a member of the Brocton Baptist Church since 1965 serving in many different compacities.
He enjoyed farming, sports, reading in church and spending time with family.
He is survived by his children, Lucie (William) Farrar, Daniel West, Dale (Caroline) West, Karen (Charles) Heilman and Rebecca (late Thomas) Campbell, loving grandfather of 19 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren also survived by two cousins and many nieces and nephews.
His son, Michael West passed on the same day hours before him. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Donna (Leonard) Aynardi and Merle (O'Linda) West.
Funeral Services will take place on Friday, August 14, 2026 at 11 am from the Brocton Baptist Church 33 West Main St. Brocton, New York. The Rev. Larry Morrison will officiate. Interment will follow at the Portland Evergreen Cemetery with full military honors. Friends are invited to call at the Brocton Baptist Church on Thursday August 13, 2026 from 4 to 7 pm and from 10 to 11 on Friday morning one hour prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Brocton Baptist Church or the Brocton Volunteer Fire Department in his memory.
