Robert James Boccolucci, known fondly as Bob, passed away on April 30, 2026, in Plant City, Florida, at the age of 82. Born on May 3, 1943, in Buffalo, NY, to the late James "Jack" Boccolucci and Ermelinda "Linda" (Manna) Boccolucci.
What about Bob? Bob was known for his generous spirit and his steady commitment to helping others. He attended Cardinal Dougherty Prep, graduating from Kensington High School. Proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era as a medic, a role that demonstrated his commitment to helping others in need. After his military service, Bob began his career as a technician in a Buffalo dental lab. He later worked in various roles with Niagara Mohawk/National Grid, retiring from the company before making a permanent move to Plant City, Florida. He also worked at Home Depot, and Lowe's. In every role, his strong work ethic and dedication were evident.
Bob had an adventurous spirit, highlighted by his participation in events like the Turkey Trot and his attendance at the iconic Woodstock festival. His beloved Ford Bronco--the original "BIG kind"-- was an integral part of many early memories, including the time the entire wheel nearly flew off while driving on the Thruway!
An avid outdoorsman, Bob loved swimming, fishing, snow skiing, riding his Harley, and serious biking. He and his first wife also owned a bicycle retail and repair shop for a time in Fredonia, New York. He occasionally enjoyed white-water rafting in Zoar Valley, where--by Bob's quick actions--he helped save his mother-in-law who popped out of the raft! He attempted sailing as well, and the purchase of his power boat, caused quite a bit of concern for his father--who told him, "You must have a screw loose, Son!!" (Thanks, Dad--great name for a boat!)
Bob also enjoyed hockey and coached his stepson, Andrew, from age 6 to 18 with NCCYHA. The family will never forget the last game of Andrew's last season--when a couple of players collided with him and caused a compound fracture to his ankle, requiring surgery with pins, screws and leaving him in a wheelchair for several months. Bob was NOT happy about THAT!
He took part in target shooting and enjoyed bow and shotgun hunting. One of his favorite pastimes was tracking with Deer Search of WNY alongside his special wire-haired Dachshund, "Vreena."
Bob was also a talented carpenter. He and Diane remodeled the home they shared with Andrew in Brocton, New York, and he also created many special burl-wood pieces using his Shopsmith.
Bob is survived by his children, Gina and Rob Boccolucci and their mother; brother, Peter Boccolucci; sister, Louise (Boccolucci) Suchan; and a large circle of relatives. He is also survived by his second ex-wife, Diane, and stepson, Andrew; and by special friends Denny Gullo, Darrel VerHague, and Nick Geiben, among others. His presence will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
