Winifred M. Allen "Winnie" age 78 of Collins passed away Saturday morning August 15, 2026 at her son and daughter in-law's residence in Jesup, Georgia.
Winnie was born in Gowanda, December 25, 1947, an only child to William and Beatrice (Stevens) Seymour.
Winifred married Noel E. Allen April 4, 1970 at the former United Methodist Church in Gowanda , a church where her family were long standing parishioners of. Winnie was a licensed hairdresser , Designer Row , her beauty shop she ran from her home on Caroline Rd. in Gowanda for 20 years she maintained her shop from her home in Collins after moving She developed many friendships with her customers throughout the years Her declining health forced her to step back . 35 years of hairdressing certainly made stepping back a big decision because her clients were not only her customers but were friends. Prior to becoming a licensed hairdressser Winnie worked for 20 years for New York State, she was a Therapy Aide at the former Gowanda Psychiatric Center.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years , Noel E. Allen , their son; Christian (Danielle) Allen of Jesup, Ga. Grandchildren; Summer, Cameron, Delaney and Desiree. Winnie is also survived by her Rocky, a faithful canine companion who was an integral part of the family .
Friends may call Friday August 21, 2026 from 4:00-7:00pm at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME 44 Center St. Gowanda where funeral services will be held Saturday August 22, 2026 at 1:00pm , interment will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery in the Town of Collins.
Memorials, if desired may be made to any local charity of one's choice.
