Fautina V. Solares, 96, peacefully passed away on September 7, 2026. Born to Ramon and Julia (Soto) Vargas on August 7, 1930 in Rincon, Puerto Rico.
In 1951, she married Efrain Solares-Rivera, and wanting a better life, they settled in Dunkirk. Fautina, a homemaker, raised her four children, Frank Solares of North Carolina, Pedro Solares of Dunkirk, Mary Solares-Rosario of Fredonia, and Raymond Solares of Dunkirk. Also being blessed with eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
A devoted wife, mother, sister, Godmother, and friend, Fautina was a beautiful soul who touched the lives of everyone she met.
Fautina will be profoundly missed by all the lives she touched.
Besides her parents and siblings, she was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Efrain in 2009.
Relatives and friends are welcome to attend Calling Hours on Thursday, September 10, 2026 from 2-4 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home; 736 Central Ave, Dunkirk, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church; 328 Washington Ave, Dunkirk, NY.
Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Arrangements are by R. Michael Mackowiak III; McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Share condolences
