We are heartbroken to announce that Knute Almon Kibbe passed away on October 7, 2026 at his home in Gerry, NY at the age of 89.

Our beloved father, brother, grandpa, uncle, friend, and neighbor will be greatly missed by his children: Guy Kibbe (Theresa) of Middleport, Amy Lolley (Mark) of Rome, GA, and Lyn Kibbe (Dennis Coe) of Frewsburg; her grandchildren: Jesse, Mary, Carrie, Steven, Chase, Allison, Kai, and Noah.

He also leaves behind six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his sister, Ruth Forbes, brother Robert (Edna) Kibbe, and in-laws Sharyn Duff-Kibbe and Alice Johnson.

Gone before him are his parents: Allie and Doris (Chase) Kibbe, as well as siblings Arthur Kibbe, Jean Ricker, and Larry Kibbe.

Knute was born in Charlotte Center Township on January 23, 1937. He lived at home until he enlisted in the army on his 18th birthday. He completed airborne school in 1955, and eventually served in Germany as a sergeant with the 11th Airborne Division for 21 months.

While in the army he married Dorothy Jean Main on June 22, 1957 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Falconer, moving to Gerry in 1960. It was there that they raised their three children.

Knute was employed by the Monofrax Company for 39 years as a mold maker, retiring in 1999.

Knute was active with the Watershed Conservancy, enjoyed reading, fishing, being outside, and playing with his grandchildren. He also attended the Gerry Methodist Church.

Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite flannel shirt to the service.

Visitation will be held from 11AM-1PM on Saturday at the Jordan Funeral Home in Sinclairville, with the funeral service commencing at 1PM in the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Charlotte Center Cemetery.
