1945-2026

Sherman G. Grant

Sherman G. Grant went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 18, 2026. He was born to the late George and Boneta Grant in May 1945. A lifelong resident of Fredonia, NY, he graduated from Fredonia High School and earned an Associate Degree in Agriculture from Cornell University. In 1967 he began work at Al Tech Specialty Steel becoming a machinist which he remained until his health shortened his working life in 2003. During that time he also owned and operated a grape farm and several other businesses.

Besides his work life, Sherm was passionate about caring for his family and reaching out to others both in his community and beyond. Harvest Chapel FM Church mission coordinator was one way he accomplished his goal. He led several mission trips: one to Brooklyn, NY and one to Farmington, NM. Even after his health failed, he spent much time in prayer for his family, friends, missionaries around the world, our country and any prayer request of which he was made aware.

Sherm is survived by his wife, Dorothy Allenson Grant whom he married in February 1978. He is also survived by his children, Randall (Tina) Grant, Bethany Grant, Timothy (Rachel) Grant, and Emily Grant. Also, he is survived by his grandchildren, Micah Grant and Charlotte Grant. His brother, Sheldon (Jackie) Grant, Uncle, Edward Cranston, brothers-in-law, Pete James, Herb (Sandy) Allenson, Pete Allenson, Sister-in-law, Christine (Bernie) Davis, step grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, step-great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many cousins also survive him. His former wife, Linda Blodgett also survives him.

Besides his parents, Sherm was predeceased by his son, Sanders (Mary Jane) Grant, his sisters, Bonnie James and Carol (Fred) Dake, plus a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Charities suggested are Harvest Chapel FM Church (missions), Chautauqua County 4-H, FeedMore WNY or your local food bank.

Sherm's Celebration of Life will be held on Friday October 30, 2026, at 11 am at Harvest Chapel FM Church, 39 Matteson St, Fredonia. NY. A luncheon will follow the service.

The service will be livestreamed at Harvestchapelfmc.com.
