Roblin workers grateful for final reunion

The former employees of Roblin Steel want to thank the OBSERVER for the outstanding coverage we received for our last reunion (Sept. 19, 2015). The turnout was a success, thanks to the OBSERVER.

We also want to thank Doug Jaffray and the Con Club for their contributions.

And of course, all the former Roblin employees who attended.

Thank you, one and all. Roblin Steel was an essential part of the fabric of our local economy for many years, as was True Temper.

True Temper would ship Roblin scrap metal from their production line, then Roblin would melt it down and ship the cased bars out to Roblin customers and True Temper steel suppliers.

Our local “industrial” economy made our communities dynamic.

It was a very good period in time for the residents, businesses and the taxpayers in Chautauqua County.

Over the years of Robin’s existence, approximately 800 people worked at Roblin Steel Company.

Items of interest from Roblin can be viewed at the Dunkirk Historical Society.

Also, anyone with items from Roblin and wishing to donate them may do so by contacting the Dunkirk Historical Society.

Such an act would keep Roblin history alive and interesting. Farewell to the good old days.

Hank Hoisington is a former longtime Roblin employee.
