A happy Easter thanks to friends

Did you have a happy Easter? I didn’t know what kind of Easter I was going to have. I thought, “This will probably be my last Easter and for the first time in my life I’ll be alone.”

But that wasn’t the case. Rob and his family had gone traveling. When they returned, he called me up to make sure I wasn’t going to be alone, so I was invited to Rob’s house. Of course, I said yes because I like the whole family! And add the fact that Kim is a great cook. They all are! I don’t know how they all keep their figures!

On top of all of that, John and Karen put food in my refrigerator! I’ll never starve.

I keep marveling at my life. All my life, I have prayed for opportunities to serve and my prayers were answered. Now that I am old and my health is limited, I’m getting all kinds of help. The beauty part of it is, all this help is coming from new people. Probably the people I helped are in the cemetery. But God does provide!

I can’t help but wonder what Easter means to people who don’t believe in the Resurrection of Jesus. Do they just accept the good food, the beautiful flowers, the new clothes, etc., as Easter? If that is all Easter means to them, they don’t believe in the virgin birth of Jesus, or in his sinless life or in the death and resurrection three days later. The Bible is true in what it says, “because He lives, we will also live!” That sounds good to me. What really blows my mind is the sentence, “while we were yet sinners, Jesus died for us!”

Wouldn’t you expect some kind of an exchange, “You do this for me and I’ll do this for you?”

I’d look for a give and take situation, but Jesus kept giving and giving and we just keep taking. It’s not the way the world is today. We want to take and keep on taking and give as little as possible. Who taught us that? We are so greedy. We never have enough.

A man once asked Rockefeller “How many millions is enough?”

His answer was, “One million more than you have.”

How sad! If you think like that, you’ll never be satisfied! Money and possessions do not bring happiness! I dare say the people who cooked our dinners today had more joy than the people who ate them! We take so much for granted!

Why do you think Jesus took the beatings, carried the cross, took the spear in his body and bled? He did it all out of love for us! Love is the best motivation! Hate is the worst.

This should be a good time to examine our motives. Do we show acts of kindness so we could brag to Jesus how good we are? Can we compare ourselves to Jesus? If that’s what you’re thinking, you will lose! We can never compete with His acts of mercy! Let’s be grateful and humble as He is humble! We have such a role model to guide us! I am so aware and so thankful! Thank you, Jesus!

Your servant, Margaret.
