Positive steps showing up in leadership

In days of old before the printed word, good deeds were communicated in song. Now, too often efforts to improve our communities go unnoticed by the general public.

As a member of the newly formed Northern Chautauqua County Water District Board, I wanted to bring to the public’s attention the significant ongoing efforts of our County Executive Vince Horrigan, our Congressman Tom Reed, our Senator Cathy Young and our Assemblyman Andy Goodell to make this regional water system a reality. With construction projected to begin this fall and completed by the end of 2017, this truly regional water system will be a real benefit to the people of our region.

Horrigan is a tireless supporter, ever remaining positive that our communities can work together to attain real results through regional projects. Reed, Young and Goodell and their staffs have been involved every step of the way, especially in supporting the much needed grant funding to make this water project economically feasible with affordable water rates now and in the future for our residents and businesses.

And yes, it is an election year. What better time to remind our citizens that our elected representatives do work hard for us and our local causes.

Even though the public may not witness their efforts first hand, I can say that I have seen the work they have done in their unwavering support of our communities’ efforts to improve our region.

They deserve our song as a very valuable and integral part of our successes.
