Today’s youth needs harsh lessons on life’s realities
This is a response to the article about a reproductive health clinic in the works in Dunkirk (Feb. 19). This article states that with the high rate of pregnancies and sexually transmitted disease, a clinic is being put in Dunkirk High School.
Part of their overwhelming stats is that they brought Jamestown High School into the mix. Why? It should have been Dunkirk, Fredonia, Silver Creek and Brocton. That would this have lowered your high stats.
Another thing I noticed is that parents are not involved. Why not? What gives the school district the right to make decisions for children that is the parents responsibility?
“As to the benefit of a clinic, high school nurse Kelly Mancuso said it can help point students in the right direction to succeed while guiding them through some difficult decisions and places they have to be.” What are these difficult decisions? Abortion? Where are these places they have to be? Kill the baby so you can go party?
Since I have no children in the Dunkirk school system I ask kids how things are at school when they are walking past my house. I haven’t found anyone who has taken this so-called survey that was passed out. What grades was this survey passed out to? Hopefully you started with the middle school and possibly even lower. I have lived in this house for 43 years.
As I listen to the kids coming from School 5, the language went from lets play ball or tag to sex speech and F-bombs.
You said you “are going to a very open clinic,” meaning open, warm and fuzzy. There is no judgment in what they are doing and where they are doing it. Everyone makes mistakes and I agree about being non-judgmental in this matter.
Maybe your brain wasn’t working but pregnancies and STDs are not warm and fuzzy. It is important, especially when our strongest antibiotics cannot clear up some of these STDs. Will you be showing films on what an abortion looks like? They are available you know.
In the Army, we had to go and watch venereal disease films. These films were quite graphic.
Will you be showing any of these for your education time? If you think the students are too young for this, I was 17 when I joined the Army.
In my opinion this looks like a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic. For those who don’t know Planned Parenthood put their clinics in the poorest neighborhoods — especially those in the inner city — so they could lower their birth rate.
In Delaware they are trying to pass a law where the school district will make decisions for kids who want to change genders even if the parents do not agree with it.
Parents it is time for you to wake up and make a stand. There is nothing wrong with having a clinic to help students but these children are minors and need parental consent. You have to give consent for your primary care doctor and it should be the same for this clinic.
