Fire hydrants in Fredonia need attention
Commentary
I fear that we are sitting on a disastrous time bomb in Fredonia. This letter is designed to bring attention to a danger that many Fredonians may have not noticed.
There are many fire hydrants that are out of commission in our village. I urge those in charge to get them repaired before a fire disaster occurs.
Here’s a list of hydrants that I have singled out for attention which are draped in black plastic bags. There may be more.
1. The area of the Wheelock School near 44 Chestnut St. Out of service in April 2017.
2. In front of Old Main on Temple Street. Out of service June 2017
3. The corner by Fredonia’s Convenient Store. Out of service June 2017
4. Temple Street near the Fredonia State dorms.
We, the citizens of Fredonia, need to encourage the village officials responsible for maintaining the safety of our fire hydrant network to remedy this situation.
If you see a hydrant with a bag on it, please call the village administrator.
Dennis Krzyzanowicz is a Fredonia resident.
