Reed still closely aligned to Trump

Our Congressman, Tom Reed, was re-elected last year in part because of his supposed commitment to “bipartisanship” and good governing.

Repeatedly, in the early days of his newest term, however, he has failed our district because of his partisanship.

While Donald Trump holds a functioning government hostage, our Congressman blames House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Democrats for refusing to spend $5.7 billion for a worthless wall.

Meanwhile, our county’s Health and Human Services Commissioner was announcing that people in our district would be lose food assistance due to an unneeded shutdown.

Our airport security is challenged. Our Coast Guard is not supported. Our Justice Department, which includes the FBI, warns that crime fighting is suffering.

And, where is our Congressman and his problem solving?

His colleague, Representative Will Hurd (R-Texas), knows our southern border. His District includes more than 800 miles of the US-Mexico border.

In an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine, Representative Hurd denied Donald Trump’s claim that there is a “crisis” at the border. He called Trump’s claim a “myth.” He said that Donald Trump’s demand for a wall is a “3rd-century solution to a 21st-century problem.”

Congressman Reed slowed the process of reopening our government — all for a Humpty Dumpty.
