Protections are not just for Hochul

By JAMES R. LISA

We either have a Second Amendment or we don’t. We cannot allow certain individuals who have a knee-jerk reaction to do something that drastically changes our rights.

The Supreme Court ruled it unconstitutional as to what New York City has been doing for years — not allowing concealed carry.

So Gov. Kathy Hochul now says the hell with the Supreme Court and turns law abiding citizens into criminals, many who have held handgun permits for many years — some more than 50 years.

She now has turned upstate into New York City by banning handguns almost in every place outside the home.

If you think for one minute that the criminals will abide by her plan, you are mistaken. Laws mean nothing to the lawless criminal element. You will disarm the people who follow the law while those who don’t will still be a threat to the public.

Hochul’s plan is so confusing that law enforcement is not sure how to even enforce most of it.

She says she does not want it being turned into the wild west in New York City. Well I have news for her.

Enforce the laws on criminals who use a gun in a crime and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. Stop the catch and release plan. Hire more police officers and let them do their job bring back respect for the law. Get tough on crime, not the citizens.

One last thing on this new law will her body guards and those politicians who have bodyguards abide by this law not to carry in all the places she mentions? My life is as important as theirs. If they need protection, so do you and I.

Remember her actions this election time. She was appointed, not elected., She has no sense of what the Second Amendment is and what it represents.

The Supreme Court has spoken, and she wants to circumvent it by making up her own set of laws. To all you hunters, pistol permit holders and firearm enthusiast and young military veterans under 21 — you must be 21 to buy a semi-auto weapon under the new rule but can serve your country at 18 — vote her out of office. She does not represent the people. She is a politician who wants to make a name for herself at the expense of we the people.
