Biden needs to embrace his golden years

The 2024 Presidential election is still a year and a half away, so I still have no idea who I’ll be voting for, but I already know who I’m not voting for and for the reasons I’ll give.

An open letter to President Joseph Biden,

Mr. President, an important reason I will not be able to support you is because you are just too old for the job. This is not a matter of ageism on my part because while you were born in 1942, I came along shortly after you in 1945 making us both members of the “Silent Generation” or those Americans, like you and I born between 1929 and the end of World War II. In our prime neither of us would have been considered very silent but neither of us is in our prime anymore.

You’ve probably noticed like I have that we don’t have as much energy as we once did. In my own case I now hire others to mow my lawn, rake the leaves and plow the driveway. Like you, my readiness to work 12 hours a day, seven days a week when the need arises is no longer part of my repertoire. For guys our age it’s time to kick back and enjoy life.

Mr. President, we both have grandchildren and one of the best things about retirement is spending time with them and their parents especially when we realize that our future time with them is becoming limited. Mr. Biden, while I hesitate to give advice to others, I will in your case. I think it’s important that you encourage Hunter to reach an agreement with the girl he had a child with and make that child a member of your family because she really is. As she grows up, she’ll know that her grandfather was President and if I were you, I would want those to be pleasant memories.

Here I want to give you more unsolicited advice. I honestly think your wife is more into being First Lady than you are into being President. Don’t let your wife push you into running again. If you really don’t want to run just tell her that on the advice of a “trusted” adviser, you have decided not to run again. If she buys that line, could I get a flight on Air Force One before you leave office?

Sir, it’s important to remember that even if you aren’t President, you will still be able to eat chocolate chip ice cream as “citizen” Biden. I’ll bet that with your far left of center policies you’ll be able to have Hunter work out a deal with Ben and Jerrys to get a bulk discount.

Mr. President another key reason I cannot support you is your administration’s policy toward China. Maybe you are as loyal as any American, but do you honestly know what Hunter is up to when he travels to China? He could be selling this country down the river, and no one would know about it. Between you and me his activities with certain women, alcoholic beverages, drugs, and nefarious business deals really don’t qualify him for a citizen of the year award.

I hope you didn’t allow that spy balloon to fly over many of our defense installations this past winter because Hunter told you that it was taking pictures for the next “Visit America” campaign on Chinese television. He didn’t have anything to do with those Chinese police stations in some of our cities, did he? I know that the defund the police movement got out of hand, but I sure hope you didn’t see the Chinese as a solution.

Speaking of our China policy and their current attitude toward the United States, our precipitous pull out from Afghanistan has certainly encouraged China to take a tougher attitude toward us and to increase its threatening talk and provocations towards Taiwan.

There is also no doubt in my mind that if we had stayed in Afghanistan as President Trump planned that the Chinese would not have become so aggressive, and that Putin would not have attacked Ukraine.

Finally, the main reason I cannot support you in 2024 is that you were elected in 2020 to a large degree by promising that you would unite this country. You haven’t done that and never will because in your mind whomever is against your policies is called either a white supremacist or an extreme MAGA Republican which you characterized in your Howard University address, as the greatest terrorist threat to this nation. It seems to me Mr. President that when you gave Afghanistan back to the Taliban in August 2021 that you created the greatest terrorist threat to this nation.
