Is it time to ask if U.S. Rep. Nick Langworthy is another puppet for Russian leader Vladimir Putin?
Langworthy says nothing to the latest proof Trump works for Putin. Trump states he will ignore the new law recently promoted and passed into law by the late Lindsey Graham that would add more sanctions against Russia.
Instead, Trump has chosen to lift sanctions against Putin. Trump will buy 36 million barrels of Russian diesel fuel with taxpayer money -- your money. Your tax money. He lies again by claiming he does this to resolve the mess he caused by his ignorant entry into war with Iran, a war that was unnecessary and that he can't end. He lies that buying Russian oil will reduce the high prices we are paying for gas.
America's status and role in the world has now been sullied by Trump siding with Putin, the dictator who started the war with Ukraine due to his own greed. So Putin is rewarded -- by you, the American public.
You've been told lie after lie, and now this one -- to make you think your gas prices will drop. Experts say no, that will not happen. CNBC stated "... oil analysts don't think the Russian supply will be nearly enough to make a meaningful impact on prices."
Instead, the deal rewards Russia in its war against Ukraine, causes its embattled people to face additional heartache and death, kills their children, destroys their electric grid so they freeze in the coming winter. Which of you think that to be a moral thing? Putin, whose career has attacked democracy relentlessly, laughs at America, laughs at us, laughs at Trump for being a fool he can control. Has America lost its soul, lost its dedication to saving democracy? By aiding Russia, America will be the tool of Russia. Russia has won.
I'm shocked and disappointed.
To all this, our Western New York representative says nothing. He does not condemn Putin nor does he condemn Trump for his lies and his treasonous actions. Republican Sens. Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Susan Collins in Alaska, Alan Armstrong in Oklahoma, Lisa Murkowski of Maine, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, and John Cornyn of Texas have condemned the decision. In a letter they stated, "This deal is a gift to our adversary and a betrayal of our Allies; it should be rescinded." They urged Trump not to "provide Putin with a financial lifeline while Russia continues to kill Ukrainian civilians."
Republican House of Representative Brian Fitzgerald plans to force a House vote against Trump's decision. Republican Representative Don Bacon of Nebraska will co-sponsor the action. He said, "Russia illegally invaded Ukraine. Russia is squarely to blame," adding that Congress and the American people stood behind Zelenskyy "until Ukrainian victory is achieved." Representative Michael McCaul of Texas, the former chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, warned that lifting sanctions could "fund the Kremlin’s war machine — emboldening more violence and destruction." It is time America faces facts. Putin controls Trump and everything Trump does proves he wants to ally himself with Putin -- why? To help democracy? To help humanity? To enrich the lives of ordinary Americans? To stand for what United States soldiers stood for when they fought and died in World War II? To stand for something moral? No. So he can become even more filthy rich. Putin has his puppet, and all the American soldiers whose lives were lost to fend back Hitler, all those who served to defend our nation against foreign adversaries -- all of that is reduced to a joke. Trump’s new alliance with Russia is all about corruption, not the United States and its people.
Langworthy should have made a statement supporting America's longstanding fight against a well-known dictator -- Putin. Where is his voice?
And here is something possibly more frightening. Elon Musk, Trump's friend, a billionaire many times over, a civilian, a man not born in this United States of America, a man not elected to any position in our government, decides to turn off his StarLink satellite internet services to Ukraine, denying it the ability to use its drones to defend itself against Russia's invasion. Trump and Musk help dictator Putin again. Citizens of the twenty-third Congressional District--heed my words. That action by Musk should overwhelm you. If he can wield such power over another nation--what power will he use on all of us? You, the taxpayer, will have no say in what he does. None.
Citizens of New York's 23rd District, consider what you are voting for this November. This is now the foremost issue -- do you want to control America's destiny or do you want Russia and the filthy rich to do so? This district needs a leader. Langworthy is not that.
