Who wants to be a part of socialist New York?

We congratulate New York City for their astounding mayoral choice. Forget his sympathies for the perpetrators of 9/11 and his overt anti-Semitism – that’s ancient history. Let us focus on Zohran Mamdani’s real passion: Marxism. Mamdani is a self-proclaimed Marxist, just like the heads of BLM and the non-existent ANTIFA organization that burns down cities and assaults journalists. Mamdani openly quotes Marx’s Communist Manifesto, and promotes the Marxist ideology of violent revolution - just like ANTIFA and BLM (see Manifest section 4). NYC Democrats have demonstrated ...

Political shift takes a wrong turn

There was a time when both major political parties had a substantial number of liberals and conservatives. But over the course of the lifetime of everyone reading this column today, liberals have shifted to the Democrats, while conservatives have shifted to the Republicans. That has led—within the GOP—to a philosophical shift that has been, on balance, good for the GOP and good for the country. ≤ ≤ ≤ The shift within the GOP isn’t the only shift. Yet the shift within the Democrat party has been, on balance, bad for the party and the country. How many Democrat ...

Organizing all that wonderful ‘stuff’

I foolishly planned a yard sale. I even hornswoggled Dear Richard into the idea. I’m an idiot. For the past three or four years, we’ve been donating our worthy goods to worthy charities. Simple. Easy. Sensible. Then one day I found a bunch of little things I don’t use and put them in a box for donation. Thereafter, every time I was in a closet, a kitchen drawer, or the garage and found something useless, I’d add it to the box. Hmm. But planning a sale was overwhelming. A truly organized sale would require tackling our jam-packed garage, which was armpit deep in ...

Democrats are their own wrecking ball

Mostly at the national level, Democrats have lost their minds. The case in point is the ballroom being constructed that led to the demolition of the East Wing of the White House, a rather undistinguished 1942 addition originally constructed to camouflage a World War II bomb shelter. In later years a portion was converted into a movie theater and later housed the office of the First Lady and her staff. A review of White House history shows that many changes and additions have been made to the Executive Mansion. During the presidency of Andrew Jackson, the North Portico was added. Teddy ...

Climate act was a wish, not realistic

The CLCPA (Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act) was passed in 2019, and the grand electrification plans have become a power supply nightmare for New York, combined with major electric transmission and distribution rate increases that add up to huge electric costs when supply and delivery charges arrive in our bills. Worse yet, New York attempted to replace retired coal-fired and other fossil plants with renewables and imports, and the 2025 NYISO Power Trends report stated that we’re losing ground. The current process to update the New York Energy Plan is expected to say ...

Village leaders pour on blame game

Village of Fredonia Mayor Michael Ferguson recently stated on local media sources that a small group of Fredonia citizens are holding up his administration’s plan to decommission Fredonia’s water treatment plant and reservoir in order to purchase water from the North County Water District. The mayor also claimed this small collective is costing the village in legal fees and lost grant funding. Ferguson is partially correct in his statement. But he continues to misidentify the small group of people blocking his plan and costing the village. The small group holding back the village ...
