Editor, OBSERVER:
What kind of politician openly disparages a city and people in his own district to try to win points with voters? Why would an elected official who considers himself strong on economic opportunity make fun of a successful city in his district that’s a hub for new business growth and innovation?
These are the questions voters in Ithaca and Tompkins County are asking ourselves about Congressman Tom Reed, who is paid to represent and unite our district.
As we see in his “Extreme Ithaca Liberal” ads, instead of doing his job and praising the contributions of Ithaca and Cornell, Reed has decided it’s a better strategy to bully and belittle this region with old stereotypes and juvenile politics.
We trust that our fellow New Yorkers in the Southern Tier will recognize Reed’s political strategy as desperate, callous and divisive.
