Editor, OBSERVER:

I am writing in response to the commentary on “Taking our freedom for granted” by Richard Makuch on May 2.

I agree with Mr. Makuch’s comments, but I would also like to thank all the people and businesses who support us at veterans events held in the community as well as the support at we receive in fund-raising events held throughout the year.

All you have to do is go to a VA Hospital or walk or drive by a cemetery on Memorial Day and see all the flags on the graves of veterans who served the USA to preserve our freedoms and many walk among us every day.

Some people may not give our freedom a second thought but I believe the majority do!
