Trump voters had their reasons

I am writing my opinion as a 71-year-old woman, a wife and a mother, a grandmother and a proud American.

I am having a problem with Fredonia College professors and liberal women in  this newspaper, upset about Donald Trump winning the 2016 presidential election. They are telling me, I must be uniformed and unenlightened.

My commentary is about the other half of America and what “we” think and feel.

Mr. Trump won fair and square, with 58 percent in Chautauqua county and nationwide he was declared the winner with a historical movement that swept across the nation. The people have voted. The people have spoken.

These commentary people are writing about all  the dangers, darkness, fears, hatred and bias that Mr. Trump is causing America. But, pardon me, Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton have already done this. Just look at the corruption and proven lies in the ruling Democratic party in power right now. The IRS, Benghazi, ATF Fast and Furious, Obamacare, emails destroyed and veterans dying without care have all been under Obama’s presidency with Hillary right under his wing. The rest of the world is on fire.

I am being told by these people that whoever voted for Mr. Trump just didn’t know what we were doing.

I’ve made them mad because I didn’t vote the way they wanted me to. They have all these big fancy words putting Trump voters down as racist, intolerant and accusing me and half the country of suppressing the rights and roles of smart women in society – Hogwash! We were just the “silent majority” trying to take back America for our grandchildren – just like they were saying when their candidate won. There’s always “two” sides of every argument, every discussion and every election.

Not everyone loves prime rib or lobster. We all have different tastes, ideas and we are not all equal and we are not all the same.

I did not make a “troubled choice” as stated in your newspaper article. I voted to stop Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton from destroying the “rest” of America, which they both wanted to fundamentally change and in my opinion, for the worst. Not everyone in America wanted to play that game.

Everything in America right now is upside down and backward and common sense – which our parents told us to use – is all gone with the stroke of Mr. Obama’s pen and his executive orders.

This election was not about somebody’s turn. This election was not about the first woman president. This election was not a game. This election was about our country going in the wrong direction.

Mr. Trump hasn’t even made one executive decision yet.

You should calm down all your hatred and fears. Because we still can all continue to work toward a society where all people can be safe and valued. Mr. Trump can be fair.

Even though Mr. Trump will be our next president – little girls will still be valued and can still follow their dreams.

Watch out. America may still be OK!
