Cassadaga grade

was far too low

I was disappointed in John D’Agostino’s description of Cassadaga in his column of municipal grades (Dec. 1). He is correct that the Citizens for a Better Cassadaga do much to promote the village and they deserve praise.

However, where did you get your information that problems at the beach persist? The beach has been improved! The gazebo and all the picnic tables have been painted, the hours are extended from dusk to dawn, from May to October. There is a new sign at the beach entrance. Beach attendance was up this past summer and concerts on the floating stage at Cassadaga Beach were well attended. The community fishing dock was used regularly by residents and visitors. There were special events at the beach each week such as Basketball FUNdamentals and Kayaking for Kids. There were no reports of vandalism.

I would like to see a retraction in the paper regarding this. I would also like to know how you arrive at your grades. Thank you.

‘Miracle’ had

lots of support

We would like to take an opportunity to thank all of the vendors, artisans and crafters that participated in Festivals Fredonia’s “Miracle on Main Street.” Our sponsors, Tim Hortons and owner, Gina Kron, Fredonia WalMart and Manager Brad Ballantine, Tuscany Meats and George Civiletto, Weather Hill Farms and Joanne Mansfield, and Cracker Jack Farms carriages and Jim Gruber were invaluable in the success of this event .

Just as important, we would like to extend our thanks the Fredonia High School Madrigals under the direction of Ryan Shanahan, Fredonia High School Brass under the direction of Andrew Bennett. Your music was a festive and a welcome addition to our event.

Thank you, as well, to Fredonia Fire Department, Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, the Cakery and Peggy Rose, Harvest View Greenhouses and Ashley Willebrandt, the Fredonia Grange 1, Fredonia Boy Scout Troop 267, Fredonia 4-H and the OBSERVER. This event could not have been the success it was without hard work and dedication.

We would also like to thank our venues, Fredonia Hardware and businesses in downtown Fredonia that participated in our event; the WCA Home, Barker Library, Fredonia United Methodist Church, Family Church of Fredonia and Fredonia Presbyterian Church and the village of Fredonia.
