‘Caring people’ make difference

Editor, OBSERVER:

I wish to thank all of those who worked so hard to make the benefit on Aug. 25 such a success. This includes the businesses and people who donated products, money and time. This is such a great community that we all live in and it is great to have such caring people that we can call neighbors.

Keep future in mind this November

Editor, OBSERVER:

In less than two months, we’ll have a pivotal election and I’m hoping we’ll have enough people with the courage to vote responsibly this time around. It still amazes me that 74 million actually voted for Trump in 2020. Surely the GOP can come up with a candidate who knows how to behave in public, while promoting tight borders, gun rights and abortion bans?

Maybe we can have candidates who spend time promoting a platform, instead of devoting enormous amounts of time to tearing down the opposition?

Whoever wins will have limited ability to govern anyway, especially if they don’t have a majority in the House and Senate. This flaw has plagued us repeatedly, leading to years of gridlock and stagnation.

One of the more disgraceful aspects this time around is we are now a country which allows a convicted felon to run for elected office. Where’s the outrage? Don’t we have enough citizens with the guts to demand that this be prevented?

My main concern now is for my 5 grandchildren. I’m hoping they will see competent national leadership – with men and women who know how to inspire, compromise, make tough decisions, and actually lead.

Biden’s never

at fault with writer

Editor, OBSERVER:

The recent opinion headlined “Military service a key issue” is chock full of misinformation, whether intentional or unintentional.

Stating “it was reported” is a subjective statement based on feelings, opinions, or emotions. Has there ever been any derogatory wording in any of the writer’s numerous columns regarding the numerous deferments granted to Joe Biden?

Several Gold Star families, contrary to the statement made, that only one “may have been invited” asked Trump to attend and that pictures be taken.

Stating the Defense Office of Hearings and Appeals agreement “severely limited the options that Biden was left with” is entirely false! The agreement had an escape clause that allowed the U.S. to withdraw from it if any of the terms were violated, which they were.

Biden-Bllnken did not withdraw, he stayed all in! Numerous military leaders literally begged the administration not to proceed with what they considered a tactical nightmare withdrawal scenario!

Biden wanted the withdrawal completed by the anniversary of 9/11 for purely political gain. The death of those service members was caused by incompetent leadership at the highest levels of government.
